How to clean silicone baby tableware
Silicone is easy to keep clean once you know three small habits. This is the routine we use at our own tables.
Silicone straw cup with handles, 6 oz
A straw cup with a window, two handles and a lid that stays on · $9.99 · 4.0★
Every day
Rinse right after the meal, before food dries. Then warm soapy water or the top rack of the dishwasher. For the straw cup, pull out the straw and valve and run water through them.
Stains from carrots and beets
Light shades can pick up color from strong foods. It is only on the surface: leave the piece on a sunny windowsill for an afternoon, or rub it with a paste of baking soda and water.
Soapy smell or taste
Silicone can hold on to the scent of strong dish soap. Boil the piece in plain water for a few minutes, or bake it at a low temperature on a tray, and the smell goes.
Keeping suction strong
Suction needs a clean base and a clean surface. Wash the underside, dry it and press it onto a smooth tray from the center out. A drop of water helps on slightly textured trays.
